Rudy Giuliani

Officially dropped out of the race: January 30, 2008

Did you know? Brooklyn native, Rudy Giuliani once toyed with the idea of going into the priesthood. He decided instead to pursue law and attended New York University School of Law, before becoming a law clerk.

What did he do for NYC? Giuliani was named the Associate Attorney General under the Reagan administration in 1981 and then served as the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted several high-profile cases involving organized crime and government corruption. Giuliani was elected New York City mayor in 1993 and served as such until 2001.

What's he been up to? Since serving as mayor, Giuliani has remained involved in politics, campaigning on behalf of several Republican candidates.

Hot issues? Giuliani’s top priorities are the war in Iraq, cutting government spending, and cutting taxes.
