Chris Dodd

Officially dropped out of the race: January 3, 2007

The early years? Born in Connecticut, Chris Dodd studied at a Jesuit prep school in Maryland before earning his Bachelor’s Degree at Providence College in Rhode Island.

Public service record? Dodd joined the Peace Corps for two years in the Dominican Republic following his undergrad years. After his time there, Dodd enlisted in the Army National Guard and later joined the Army Reserve, serving for six years until 1975.

Political record? Dodd’s political career took off in 1974 when he was elected to the House of Representatives. He was reelected twice to the House before running for the US Senate and winning in 1980. He is currently serving his fifth term as a Connecticut senator.

Hot issues? Among the top issues for Dodd are energy and environment, foreign affairs, and health care reform.
